Tien`s Place Oriental Dining in Columbia Falls

Was on our way to GNP and happened to pass by Tien’s place. Glad we gave it a try, the food was good. We had the satay beef and lo mien. The front girl was really friendly and extremely helpful. We also had the pleasure to meet Tien.

Rude service! Wait for food over 30-45 minutes at least!! They took my bottled water from the table while I was going to use a bathroom and my receipt was on the table waiting for the order.. They said oh sorry the water was thrown away in the garbage (she did look into the garbage) and .. they refused to give me their bottled water! 5 minutes later they brought my bottle lol and asked me if it was mine lol can you believe it? I do not even eat any food over here! It’s been one hour and we are still waiting!The food arrived in a small containers! Like for babies! For the price we paid!!! Everything tastes horrible! Do not come hear!

Mediocre at best. Avoid the hot and sour soup if you can. Dont know what it was but was more of a paste than a soup.

Family of 8 got food to go, spent over $200 and the food was not good. BBQ pork was dry and thick, more breading on the sweat and sour chicken and prawns than there was meat. Save your money and go somewhere else. Ok one of the eight of us said it wasn’t that bad. But he’s young and will eat anything.

Great food and service. Could tell everything was homemade and made to order. Fresh vegetables, and the meats in our dishes were tender and cooked perfectly. Very willing to make anything to your liking. Husband had a general Tso's chicken and said it was the best he ever had. Most places don't put many vegetables in it and his was loaded and the perfect amount of heat (spice). The owner is an awesome guy and we could tell he cares about his business and customers. Visiting from Illinois and will definitely be back if in the area. Give them a try.

Service was great. Good beers on tap. Food came fast and hot. However the prices were high for what you get. My son's kids meal had more food on the plate then my glacier combo meal. Of all the Chinese food I have eatten around the country I was disappointed with the portions. The kung pao chicken was good, as was the chicken lo mein. Get some bigger plates and fill em up. More fried rice would be nice. There were 4 small pieces of chicken in my sweet and sour chicken with the combo. Forgot to mention soup of the day was creamy broccoli. WTF, this is an oriental food restaurant not cracker barrel.

Love this place, I have eating there since Tien opened. Excellent food. I definitely recommend eating there.

Service and prices are great, but the food needs to be improved. There is no fried rice as you might be familiar with available on the menu, rather "combo rice" was offered that didn't have an interesting taste and had an odd pink color. The other problem is food was not hot. Egg drop soup was extra thick but was served luke warm.

Above average small town Chinese... I'm our travels my Chinese husband and I have found our way to lots of Chinese places in the small towns of the US. They are mostly disappointing. Tiens was a pleasant surprise. Our two stir fry dishes chicken and zucchini and Kong Pao beef were both tasty, light and fresh tasting...

Absolutely delicious! Fast and friendly service, reasonable prices and terrific food. Fresh, well seasoned and prepared perfectly. I was definitely impressed and we will be making it a regular visit. An added bonus, they have an excellent craft beer selection!

Amazing oriental food. This is the only place in Montana that made my food hot (spicy) enough while still having good flavor. The owner/Chef is a wonderful cook that has won many awards for his excellent cooking. Staff is very friendly and spot on with check backs and attentiveness. A++

The Chinese food is great and all but holy heck this place can cook up some CLAM CHOWDER!! All these years the best chowder I’ve ever had was hidden in a Chinese restaurant in Columbia Falls MTEnter yourselves in a CLAM CHOWDER COOK-OFF ALREADY!!

Uhhhhh, no.... this was no way the Best in the valley. Drove a hour and a half to get here, was hopeful with the parking lot full. I’m sure it’s because I’ve been to the big cities and had some of the best.

The Best Asian food in the valley. Great tasting filling and the atmosphere is family friendly. So much food for such an affordable price. Yayyy!

I love the food here. He makes his own sauces, everything is fresh. Super tasty! He was recently voted best chef in the valley for 2019. The service is generally good, however, there are some young and immature servers. I overlook this became the food is really good. Two thumbs up!

Dinner here was very nice. Pictured here are sesame chicken, wonton soup, and combo (aka fried) rice. Everything was flavorful and fresh with good portions. I especially liked the wonton soup - I had never had it prepared that way but it was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. Overall I was surprised to find a Chinese restaurant of this quality here in Montana.

The place is ok which is why I gave 3 stars. I wouldn’t rush back. Lots of better places in the valley to eat. But food was super fast. But you know what that means too. Dry chicken. Not really impressed at all.

I was so shocked at the good food & flavor of Tiens Oriental foods. This will be one of my favorite places to eat. I happened to take out my meal home but plan to sit in the quaint little diner next time. He serves large portions so they'll be plenty to take home. You will love it. Kw

This was my first time visiting this asian restaurant. The food was better than average, the restaurant was slightly dirty and the service was par for the course in this area. I think everyone should try it and form their own opinions...

There are restaurants that try to offer non-meat and veggie items. Tien's Place is the ONLY one that offers these types of dishes (Columbia Mtn.) that are just as tasty and flavorful as the meaty options. PLUS his eggrolls are so flaky & and DELICIOUS! 6 STARS for Tien's Place in Columbia Falls.

Great food... Spicier than usual oriental food, so adjust your accordingly. They have good veggie options too.

Food was amazing. When we mentioned how much we loved it, the chef/owner came and talked to us. Gave us insight on the area and everything we needed to know. Staff was amazing and polite and I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a great overall dining experience!

The food was good and the service was good, the story about the history of the owner was heart warming.

Waitresses are very friendly however the food itself was not up to par. My mother had the sesame chicken, it did not taste like how it should at all- it was a very odd flavor, vinegary. I had the chow mein, flavor was okay but minimal noodles and a lot of veggies. Same with my father’s kung pao chicken that he ordered, mostly veggies.

Always my favorite Chinese place. I will drive to Columbia Falls just to eat there. Their staff is polite and courteous as well. Oh and if you're in the mood for a cheeseburger they have the Chad Burger it is so tall they have to hold it together with a chopstick definitely a great burger.

GREAT FOOD ! VERY TASTY, WE HAVE BECOME FREQUENT VISITORS OF THIS RESTAURANT. WE HAVE ALSO MET THE OWNER " TIEN " AND HAVE FOUND HIM TO BE VERY FRIENDLY AND HOSPITABLE WHEN GREETING CUSTOMERS. WE HAVE MET A NEW FRIEND HERE , YOU WOULD HAVE THOUGHT WE WOULD HAVE KNOWN EACH OTHER FOR YEARS ! A FAMILY MAN WITH STRONG FAMILY VALUES.

The food was so good!! And the service was amazing!!! The vegetables in our meals were the perfect amount of crisp. Obviously very fresh!! I asked to remove certain vegetables and add others. They said ABSOLUTELY!! Each dish is made to order. The people in this tiny place are very lucky to have that. In my experience, you usually have to be in a bigger city to get that. We were expecting "Diner" type food. We were prepared for that and instead we got a surprise that was welcomed!! If you are open to a twist on Oriental, you need to stop by this place!! If you have someone with you that doesn't love Oriental, they have American food on their menu as well. This was an amazing find in a tiny place that doesn't have a big city in site!!

Food was amazing! Wait staff was great! Very affordable. We really lucked out with this last minute stop on our travels. We thought we were going in for some “so-so” food just to ease our hunger but ended up having a wonderful experience. If we are ever in this part of the country again we would definitely return.

Food tasted horrible. 2 of us got chicken and it smelled and tasted like old meat, 1 got beef which tasted bland and 1 of us got a vegetarian dish which tasted like the vegetables weren't cooked through. I tried to eat the rice so that I wouldn't have to touch the chicken, however, the portion size was extremely small due to the price. We were starving after a long flight and still couldn't eat the food. If you are a tourist and expect that it would be remotely anything like the chinese places from other places, you may be disappointed.

Came back after being out of town for 5 years and it's still FANTASTIC. This place and the Back Room are why I didn't have any money when I lived in C-Falls

Did not get what we ordered for takeout and it was possibly the worst Asian food I've had.
